Our dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly on behalf of you, our members! Their time involves attending committee meetings, creating proposals, writing negotiation points, meeting with senior administration and defending members via phone calls, email and in person.
Please warmly welcome these new APSA members who have joined us in the past month. Aarma, Katlin Celine Coordinator, Executive Education New to SFU Beedie Exec Education Programs Beedie School of Business   Carag, Jeremiah Mari Gan Academic Advisor
Each month, our Advocacy Committee answers your questions about the AD 10 policies (aka, your terms and conditions of employment.) Hello, I’m Angela Vass, Member Services Coordinator for APSA. On behalf of the committee, I’m answering a question posed by an APEX member about temporary leaves and vacations.
In response to member privacy concerns regarding communicating with the APSA team via our SFU role accounts, we've changed our emails to our website domain: apsacentral.ca. This new domain is entirely separate from the SFU one to help increase member comfort in communicating with us. Although we still have our SFU role accounts, these will be used primarily for calendars and other purposes. You can reach us at:
Tess Williams, APSA board member and volunteer for the Salary and Benefits Committee, has been collaborating with an SFU faculty member and grad students on a Trans Equity survey. This survey will produce key data in order to more clearly identify gender-diverse inequity at SFU and hopefully lay a foundation for better communication among 2SLGBTQIA+ staff. Tess hopes this work could potentially build a community similar to the queer faculty network, with the end goal of better support for marginalized people. What is the survey about?
Arbitrations and Grievances APSA has filed a grievance based on article 9.2 of our Basic Agreement. This grievance is to dispute the University's inconsistent distribution of the professional development fund reimbursement payout for temporary members from our last round of bargaining. We hope to resolve this matter as soon as possible.
During bargaining years, APSA uses a financial researcher to report on the University's ability to pay. Here are some highlights from the researcher's report. Once we finish our review, we plan to make the report available to you, our members.   Resources https://www.sfu.ca/finance/publications.html
