In November 2025, The New York Times published an interview opinion piece titled "Did Women Ruin the Workplace?" addressing enduring stereotypes about gender in professional settings. They interviewed two conservative women on feminism and the workplace.
The piece begins by dividing feminism into "woke" and conservative camps, creating a problematic and misleading equivalence, and assumes a universal understanding of the term "woke."
APSA usually receives a Personnel Requisition Form from SFU HR, which gives us a general update on our members' records. For new members, we typically receive a "New to SFU," "New to HR," or "Academic Group." This does not show any CUPE-to-APSA members. I would figure this out in the previous software after uploading records marked "Promotion" or "Transfer." The list would show which emails were not already on it. I can't do that with this new system.
Negotiations
Salary and Benefits Committee: SFU and the Salary and Benefits Committee began bargaining the week of January 12, 2026. While negotiations were productive, we have not yet concluded bargaining. We have additional bargaining dates in March and are set to resume bargaining next week.

Hello, fellow APSA members!
A few updates for you as we prepare to turn our clocks ahead for the last time!
