Arbitrations and Grievances

APSA has filed a grievance based on article 9.2 of our Basic Agreement. This grievance is to dispute the University's inconsistent distribution of the professional development fund reimbursement payout for temporary members from our last round of bargaining. We hope to resolve this matter as soon as possible.

APSA also awaits an arbitration result from a grievance for 8.1 of our Basic Agreement. There was a dispute on what APSA could bargain during the last round of salary and benefits negotiations.

APSA advocates have several ongoing grievances and investigations on accommodations, return to work and hours of work. We can't give any details due to confidentiality issues. Please see this infographic on the Life of a Grievance to learn more about how the grievance process works.

Human Rights Office

The Human Rights Office will stay under the purview of the VPPEI portfolio until a new University Secretary is found. Community feedback was crucial in the University understanding of the concerns surrounding keeping a Human Rights Office that is arm's length from Human Resources.

Pensions

The pension committee has been meeting regularly and will launch a survey in the upcoming months based on APSA members understanding, education, knowledge and satisfaction with our current pension plan. This will be forthcoming in the next month or two.

Bargaining

APSA's Salary and Benefits Committee is reviewing the salary and benefits survey results. Your answers are vital in crafting the committee's proposals; other factors include other ongoing cases and issues facing APSA members.
