On July 1, three salary increases
will take place, where applicable.

1. General Wage Increase – 0.5%

In the
last round of bargaining, the Salary & Benefits team negotiated an agreement that included general wage
increases of 5.5% over five years. This
year, 0.5% will be applied to all APSA salaries.

2. Economic Stability Dividend – 0.45%
 

On November 17, 2015, the
provincial government announced that
public sector workers would see an additional modest salary increase in 2016 due to stronger than
expected economic growth in 2014.

According to the government’s news release,
“[s]tatistics Canada reported that the B.C. economy grew by 3.2% in 2014,
exceeding the forecast provided by the independent Economic Forecast Council of
2.3%. That translates into an additional increase of 0.45% for unionized
public-sector employees...”

Similar
calculations will be conducted over the next three years and could lead to additional general wage increases in July of 2017, 2018 and 2019.


3. Step progression


Members who are eligible
(at step 7 or below in the salary range) will receive a one step increase. This
is effective each year on July 1 and is based on satisfactory performance.

  1. Temporary
    Employees

    Temporary employees are eligible for a step increase if employed in the same
    temporary position for six months prior to this date (see Policy AD
    10.06
    , section 4). If you do not see a step increase to your salary after
    July 1, please contact your supervisor or a Human Resources Advisor.


  2. Employees
    on Probation

    Employees on probation will receive a step increase upon the successful
    completion of their probationary period.

The
annual and biweekly salary scales have been posted
with the above increases on the Human Resources website.
