Each month, the Advocacy Committee answers your questions about the AD 10 polices (aka, your terms and conditions of employment.)

As many of you know, the transit strike took effect on Friday, November 1. As I've mentioned before, I'm the Director of Parking & Sustainable Mobility Services. We're currently strategizing on offsetting the impact that the strike will have on the SFU community.
Congratulations to our new director, Arlette Stewart! Arlette will start her term at this year's Annual General Meeting. She will join David Agosti, Jeff Bryer, Ian Bercovitz, Ryan Fortin, Sharina Janif and Mitchell Stoddard, as well as the newly elected members Rachel Dawson, Stephanie Stewart and Vince Wong on APSA's Board of Directors. Arlette comes to us from Senate and Academic Services where she works as a Coordinator for Academic Integrity.

APSA received an unprecedented response to our Salary and Benefits bargaining survey. We asked the Salary and Benefits committee chair, Jo-Anne Ray, to voice her thoughts on the survey and what the results mean to the Salary and Benefits Committee.   This survey was different from the survey sent out in previous bargaining years. What made you decide on this change?
8% in Lieu vs. Vacation Pay and Sick Leave — Temporary Positions If you are a temporary APSA member, you will receive an employment letter with your contract. If it's a long-term contract, you may get a choice of vacation time or 8% in lieu of vacation. It's great to have a little extra cash in your pocket, but know that these choices affect your sick leave. This is also important for APSA supervisors, as they can help their direct reports make informed decisions.
