Continuity is king this year. In January, the Board of Directors voted on who among them would fill the role of President, Vice President and Treasurer.

Under the new bylaws, this is the first action item of the newly elected Board after the Annual General Meeting. All positions are for a one-year term, expiring at the 2018 Annual General Meeting.

Wanda Dekleva was voted in again as President. With two years of experience in the role, she was the top choice.

David Agosti was voted in as Vice President. He held this role for the past year.
Chris Claiter was voted in as Treasurer for the second time. He served in this role for the past year.

What does our President do?

More than you might realize.

  1. Each semester, Wanda Dekleva meets with SFU President Andrew Petter and senior Vice Presidents, to express members’ concerns and negotiate solutions to them.

  2. Every other month, she discusses policy and advocacy issues with senior staff in Human Resources and Labour Relations.

  3. Twice a month, she runs APSA’s Board of Directors meetings, which include a round table discussion with directors.

  4. Once a month, chairs from APSA's five committees report to her on their activities.

On the days between, she works on advocacy cases, resolving member’s individual workplace issues, and meets with APSA Executive Director, Anne Mason. Dekleva also grabs coffee regularly with Sandi de Domenico, Academic Vice President, Human Resources, to convey the most pressing issues you, our members, have.

All this on top of her regular full-time work for SFU!
