The Joint Compensation Review Committee (JCRC) was formed as part of the arbitrated award during the 2014 round of bargaining. Its purpose is to make recommendations for a total compensation package for APSA members.

Since early 2015, APSA has been negotiating with SFU about total compensation improvements, notably improvements to benefits, an external market survey and a job evaluations appeals committee. After critical disagreements arose between SFU and APSA members on the committee, both parties agreed to a mediated settlement in February 2021.

The JCRC still hasn't completed its vital work, as there have been further disagreements about the metrics of the market survey and other aspects of total compensation for APSA members.
