SFU’s Startup Competition – open to APSA!
The 2023 Coast Capital Venture Prize celebrates innovative ideas and entrepreneurial pursuits within SFU’s community. The competition and associated activities welcome startup ideas and early-stage business ventures founded by SFU students, faculty, recent alumni, as well as staff! Over the course of the 3-month competition, teams will build their skills and networks through workshops, direct mentoring and pitch practice and compete for upwards of $75K in cash and in-kind prizes! Applications are open from Jan. 23 until Feb. 20, 2023.
In 2022, APSA member Matthew Steinbach (SFU Head Coach, Men’s & Women’s Golf) and his co-founders tied for first place (winning $3K) in the Idea stream for startup One Iota Performance which aims to enhance the partnership between coach and athlete by helping them focus their efforts on all four components of performance. One Iota was subsequently invited into SFU’s Coast Capital Venture Connection Incubator, and student co-founder Ryan Stolys has just completed a funded co-op term focused on building the venture. One Iota expects to launch its platform to the public early in 2023.
