Happy New Year! I hope you all had a relaxing and restorative break. As we settle into the new semester, I wanted to update you on where we are in preparation for bargaining. The APSA Bargaining committee has and will be meeting every week to refine and prioritize its proposals and assign and work through tasks for each proposal category to best prepare us for bargaining.
As you are aware, bargaining cannot commence without first a resolution to arbitrator Colin Taylor’s award of 2015. APSA anticipates that a meeting with the arbitrator will occur this spring. Consequently, this has an impact on the timing of bargaining, which is likely to commence around May, a later than usual start. Between now and then the committee will continue to meet weekly in preparation for formal bargaining. I will regularly update you on where we are both in terms of preparation and bargaining timelines as the process unfolds.
