1. What is the APSA office doing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

APSA has moved almost all of its activities from campus to work remotely. All of the office staff are currently well but recognize the need to do their part to flatten the curve.

2. Can I still get help with any work-related issues from APSA?

Yes. APSA is here to help you with all issues related to your terms and conditions of employment as well as any COVID-19 issues. We are taking phone calls and emails as usual. However, we are not readily available for in-person meetings. Please contact us via email (apsa@sfu.ca) or phone (778-782-5423) to arrange an appointment.

3. What if I need to stay home?

If you are immune-compromised, need to care for your children or an elder relative, or if you just feel safer at home, please work with your supervisor to make that happen. SFUs FAQs give you more details.

4. What if I've been directed to stay home?

If you have returned from travel, are feeling ill or are directed to stay at home, please speak with your supervisor and department. Your health and the health of the community are important. You should stay home by working remotely, taking sick days if you are allowed or any other leave. SFU's FAQs give you more details.

5. What is happening in regards to formal meetings such as investigations, grievances, arbitration etc.?

The University and APSA have moved the majority of formal meetings to online only. Please contact APSA if you are asked to come to any meetings for which you may need APSA representation. If you have been previously involved in a formal meeting, APSA will contact you to let you know about the status of the issue and if you are needed in-person or not.

6. What about APSA's events and professional development workshops?

APSA has moved all workshops to online only.

7. What is the University's reopening plan?

The University has a phased reopening plan that you can find on their return to campus page.

8. What is the BC reopening plan?

On May 25, 2021, Dr. Bonnie Henry announced BC's Reopening Plan. This plan is not dependent on the number of cases in the province. Learn more on the BC's restart page.
