Bargaining Updates
September Updates
A Memorandum of Agreement was reached on August 15, 2023, and was ratified by both APSA members and the SFU Board of Governors by September 6, 2023.
August Updates
The Salary and Benefits Negotiating team has been meeting regularly and exchanged three sets of proposals with the University. We are hopeful that we can reach a settled agreement in the coming weeks.
July Updates
APSA has learned from the University that it has contracted a third-party negotiator to lead SFU's negotiating team for its bargaining with APSA. Kris Nordgren, chair of APSA's Salary and Benefits Committee, will meet shortly with SFU's third-party negotiator to discuss protocol arrangements for bargaining, among other matters.
June Updates
The Salary and Benefits Committee has submitted its formal proposal to SFU after a joint discussion held at the end of May. Tentative dates for compensation negotiations are set to begin in July, and negotiations around changes to APSA's basic agreement should happen in the late fall.
May Updates
The Salary and Benefits Committee has finalized its proposals for the APSA Board. Per our communication to SFU, we will be table ready by mid-June, with our expectation to begin shortly after that. We are finalizing this bargaining period with SFU.
April Updates
Some good news. As we have recently received mediated recommendations flowing from our Basic Agreement grievance around what exactly can be bargained, APSA's Salary and Benefits Committee can now craft proposals based on the survey results received from members, issues arising from our Advocacy Committee and items of concern raised by individual APSA members. We will advise you shortly on the Salary and Benefits Committee's next steps.
March Updates
APSA's Salary and Benefits Committee is reviewing the salary and benefits survey results. Your answers are vital in crafting the committee's proposals; other factors include other ongoing cases and issues facing APSA members.
