Currently, Temporary Employees who are new to the University and CUPE employees who move into an APSA position in either a continuing or temporary basis do not attend HR’s monthly New Employee orientation sessions.

These orientation sessions include a 1-hour portion with APSA to go over the AD 10 polices, which are all APSA member’s terms and conditions of employment.
We’ve found that this has created a knowledge gap for new APSA Temps and CUPE to APSA members.
We’ve decided to launch a pilot project to see if there is enough interest or need for this sort of APSA Policy orientation on an ongoing basis.

If you are a manager who has staff who fall into these categories, please encourage them to attend.
Our first sessions will be on the following dates in AQ 5135:
For Temporary Employees in an APSA Role and are new to the University.

Feb 4th 12pm to 1:30pm

For Continuing CUPE Employees who are in a Temporary APSA Role. Or former CUPE employees in a Continuing APSA Role.

February 12th 10am to 11:30am

Please email assist@sfu.ca to sign up as space is limited to 10 people per session. Priority will be given to staff who have started in APSA within the last 3 months.
Coffee, Tea, and light snacks will be provided.
